What this measures

Universal health coverage service coverage index, in index, 0 to 100. Source: World Health Organization. For this measure, higher is better.

Fourteen "tracer" measures of basic health services, combined by WHO into one index. They include vaccination, care during pregnancy, treatment of tuberculosis and HIV, and hospital beds and staff. Several of those measures are on the site on their own. So a link with any of them is partly the index matching a part of itself.

This measure mostly follows how rich a country is, so this ranking is close to a ranking by national income. Each country’s page also ranks it against countries with similar incomes, which is often the fairer comparison.

The full ranking

Each country’s latest figure, from 2023–2023. The year beside each value says when it was measured.
