US Counties With the Highest Births per 1,000 Women Aged 15 to 50

2,195 US counties ranked by births per 1,000 women aged 15 to 50, from highest to lowest. First are Grant County, KS (333), Madison County, FL (194) and Hamilton County, FL (176). The middle one of the 2,195 has 56.1.

What this measures

Births in the past year for every 1,000 women aged 15 to 50. It is a survey estimate, not a count of birth certificates. In small counties it rests on very few answers and can be far off, so the highest and lowest values are mostly random noise from the survey. Source: Census ACS 5-year.

For most measures, a national ranking mostly sorts places by income and by how urban they are. Each county’s own page compares it with the 50 counties most like it instead, which is often the fairer view.
