US Counties With the Highest Per Capita Income

3,220 US counties ranked by per capita income, from highest to lowest. First are Pitkin County, CO ($105,100), New York County, NY ($94,922) and Marin County, CA ($90,408). The middle one of the 3,220 has $33,735.

What this measures

All the money income in the area divided by everyone who lives there, children included. It is an average, so a few high earners pull it up, unlike the middle household income. Source: Census ACS 5-year.

For most measures, a national ranking mostly sorts places by income and by how urban they are. Each county’s own page compares it with the 50 counties most like it instead, which is often the fairer view.
