US States With the Lowest Share of Taxes From Sports Betting and Pari-mutuels

51 US states ranked by share of taxes from sports betting and pari-mutuels, from lowest to highest. First are Georgia (0), Hawaii (0) and Montana (0). The middle one of the 51 has 0.0299.

What this measures

The percentage from taxes on sports betting and horse-race betting. The Census only split this out starting in 2023, so there is no 2022 figure. That year is marked unknown, not zero, since states taxed betting long before it had its own line. Source: Census government finances.

For most measures, a national ranking mostly sorts places by income and by how urban they are. Each county’s own page compares it with the 50 counties most like it instead, which is often the fairer view.
