US States With the Lowest Arrivals per 100 Staying, $200,000 or More

51 US states ranked by arrivals per 100 staying, $200,000 or more, from lowest to highest. First are California (1.12), Minnesota (1.19) and Illinois (1.27). The middle one of the 51 has 2.44.

What this measures

People moving in for every hundred who stayed, counting only households reporting $200,000 or more. Income is measured in the year they arrived, so someone who moved and then earned more counts as high-income. Source: IRS county migration flows.

For most measures, a national ranking mostly sorts places by income and by how urban they are. Each county’s own page compares it with the 50 counties most like it instead, which is often the fairer view.
